French Revolution. The trial of King Louis XVI of France begins in Paris. The King is  charged for treason and the trial will end in guillotine.

 

 

 

December 11th, 1934

Bill Wilson, the co-founder of Alcoholic Anonymous enters treatment for the last time.

 

 

 

 

December 11th, 1946

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund ( UNICEF ) is  established.UNICEF has receives the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 for its overall offer.

 

 

 

December 11th, 1962

Arthur Lucas was one of the last two persons that were executed in Canada. He was  convicted of the murder of an undercover narcotics agent. Lucas, as well as his fellow  prisoner ( Ronald Turpin )were executed by hanging in Toronto.The capital punishment for murder was removed from Canada’s criminal code in 1976.

 

 

 

December 11th, 1968

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.Two concerts on a circus stage were held where The Who, John Lenon, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell and Keith Richards performed together as parts of a group called The Dirty Mac. In 1996 a film was released about that event.
